We are proud to host the exhibition "No Mother Should Worry" by artist group "AKATEN(赤点)."
AKATEN(赤点) is organized by four members; Carlos and Alberto Osorio, Jiexian Huang, and Hanae Kawai. They all share the same interest in Japanese pop culture, all being individually raised with the culture, especially animation, manga, fashion, film, and of course, art. However, AKATEN(赤点) is not a fan art group at all. They focus rather on the subconscious facts of the society and people influenced by that culture based on experiences and research of Japan and the objective to visually represent them through international perspectives.
For their first exhibition, entitled "No Mother Should Worry," AKATEN(赤点) is focusing on the life of Japanese teenagers. They have particular characteristics which are different from teenagers in other countries. By visually expressing their life, they are not only speaking about the culture itself, but also representing the nature of human beings and the fragile but self-aware teenagers created by this fast, modern eerie culture.
